Shelagh’s passion is to help you continue to enjoy all the things you love to do with comfort and ease, whatever your age. She specialises in pain management and resolution and has an evidence informed, patient centred approach to your care. She uses a variety of techniques supported by current neuro and pain science whilst maintaining curiosity and a commitment to professional and personal development.

Pain and discomfort have multiple contributors and everyone’s experience is entirely unique. We are integrated beings of mind and body, affected by our emotions, environment, relationships with ourselves and others as well as by the many ways we use our bodies and so Shelagh’s approach reflects this and treats you as an individual.

Using a combination of McTimoney Chiropractic, Remedial Massage and Therapeutic Yoga amongst other techniques, Shelagh helps you improve movement, ease pain and discomfort and guides you with gentle movement, breathing and relaxation/meditation techniques to encourage confidence in your physical state/abilities and a calm mind. Her aim is always to ensure you are comfortable and at ease and you are empowered to play an active role in your own recovery so mind and body can thrive

Your first consultation is up to 90 minutes and £80. It includes a detailed discussion of your medical history as well as careful questioning and most importantly, listening to determine a more rounded, holistic picture of your life, your symptoms and possible contributors so an appropriate care pathway can guide and support you towards your treatment goals. It will also include appropriate physical, neurological and orthopaedic assessment. You will receive chiropractic treatment at your first session if it is an appropriate option for your particular needs. All further sessions are 40 minutes and £55 and are tailored to you as an individual.

If you are recovering from injury or have specific goals you would like to achieve from a progressive yoga practice with a staged approach, Shelagh also offers bespoke 1:1 Yoga Sessions at £60 for 75mins or £340 for a course of 6.

The McTimoney Chiropractic method is suitable for people of all ages, including the young, elderly and pregnant women (after the first trimester).

Concerned with improving function of the neuromusculoskeletal system - in particular, the spine - it is a method of locating areas of mechanical dysfunction that could be contributing to poor mobility, pain and discomfort.  Specific, gentle adjustments alongside remedial massage help to restore correct movement and relieve pain and the treatment is as enjoyable as it is effective.

People most commonly consult a Chiropractor for diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mechanical disorders of the neuromusculoskeletal system and treatment can be helpful for many complaints including back pain, neck pain, some other joint disorders and some headaches.  The practice is highly regulated and very safe.

Recovery depends upon many factors including the nature and duration of the problem, age, general fitness levels and adherence to exercise and lifestyle advice. Shelagh will discuss your case individually to provide realistic expectations but it is usual that patients will notice sustainable improvement in 2-6 sessions. We will discuss progress at each session and decide together on appropriate next steps

Testimonials

“A patient of mine once told me that she had been seeing a chiropractor, one with an intelligent and gentle approach, and that she achieved an outcome we had not been able to achieve at my end. The chiropractor’s name was Shelagh Taggart. This report impressed on me strongly enough to begin sending patients to Shelagh. Another patient came back with an excellent report and then another and another.
Shelagh noticed she had a new enthusiastic referrer and so one Saturday morning, I visited her Nurture Yoga & Therapy Centre, met the team and was shown around. I was impressed and started to refer regularly.
We developed a productive collaboration, and I found that Shelagh’s treatment and mine were complementary with each other in selected patients. It’s worked very well.
I am retiring and I felt I should thank Shelagh and congratulate her on our excellent collaboration.”

My hip feels perfect, thank you very much indeed. I was singing your praises no end while walking around the city. On my bike too things feel really normal. I have to stop myself going full speed.”
